I bought this guitar primarily for design, from the beginning I liked the texture camouflage and worthy thing, arrived in good condition, I think it is an excellent option to practice at home, guitar sound is good and for the Cost is a very good option much better than other beginner guitars that are at greater cost, the floyd rose guitar stays in tune very well in my case, that’s what I like most, but do not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who like design and want a good guitar

    The Dean Vendetta Series
With four models to choose from, the Vendettas have string-through-body design, classic Dean V Ferrule pattern, dual Humbuckers, a 25.5-inch scale, and solid mahogany bodies with a maple neck. The Vendetta 1.0 and 2.0 are bolt-on models with black hardware. The 2.0 model features a solid flame maple top. The Vendetta 3.0 and 4.0 sport neck-through construction with the Pearl Evil Eye inlay running the length of the fretboard. The 4.0 version has a beautiful quilted maple top and is available in an all too popular “Tiger Eye” finish.

    Paulownia Body
Paulownia is an increasingly popular substitute for mahogany in more affordable guitar models. It’s a fast-growing, hearty tree native to Japan and Southeast Asia, and has traditionally been used for Asian string instruments.

As a lightweight, porous body wood, Paulownia is somewhat similar to swamp ash in its sonic signature: very resonant, with plenty of chime and a nice, tight low-end.

    Bolt-On Construction
The Vendetta XM uses bolt-on construction, an affordable alternative to set-neck or thru-body designs. The advantage of this design is that if you do have any neck trouble down the line, you can easily replace it.

The maple neck features an ultra-playable 24-fret rosewood fingerboard, with classic dot inlays.

    Dean Humbucker Pickups
To capture the biting tones of vintage Deans, the company includes two humbuckers. These pickups should provide more than enough bite for modern styles, along with plenty of low-end and midrange definition. The standard three-way selector allows bridge, neck, or a combination, and volume and tone controls are provided.

    Dean Diecast Tuners
Dean’s sealed diecast tuners offer solid tuning and mechanics, for a long lifetime of dependable performance.

    Vintage Tremolo Bridge
Add a little flavor to your playing, from subtle vibrato to full-on dive bombs.

  • 25.5-inch scale, 24-fret maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays

Overall a good starter guitar, though nothing spectacular. mine arrived with a chipped headstock, and the strings were not put on correctly, they were out of order. I first thought of sending it back in exchange for another one, but decided against going through the hassle of returning it and just to live with it as it is basically a back-up to my B.C. Rich Warlock I spent about 2 hours adjusting various aspects of the guitars set-up and changing the strings, after that it has stayed in tune, plays and sounds 100% better. so i suggest to anyone who buys one of these, plan to change the strings and do some fine tuning to eliminate unwanted (and mostly annoying) fret buzz. a very basic looking strat body style but overall a good starter or back-up guitar. I give it a 4 out of 5 star rating based on how it sounds and plays after i made the adjustments, and changed the strings.

Dean zebra humbuckers, Tune-o-Matic bridge with thru-body design.

    The Dean ‘79 Series
1979 was a great time for Dean Guitars. Some of Rocks’ greatest players played Dean to include: Kansas, ZZ Top, Heart, The Doobie Brothers, Triumph,The Cars, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard—the list goes on.

Dean Guitars builds these beauties to the original specs of the original 1979 Deans, which are now collectibles on the open market. The ‘79 series uses the Series 2 headstock, larger than the time capsule, and has the same look and feel as their predecessors of the seventies.

The ‘79 series is available in finishes originally offered in the 1979 Dean catalog, including: Cherry Sunburst, Braziliaburst, and Black with white binding—and the prices are just as striking.

    Mahogany Body with Maple Top
As with the original models, Dean uses a mahogany body for its contemporary ’79s. Mahogany is a common choice for electrics, dependably delivering a warm, full tone with plenty of punch and sustain. The maple top focuses the mahogany tone, imparting clarity to your notes/chords, and a little extra high-end bite.

    Set Neck Construction
The ‘79 ML features a set mahogany neck, which imparts all the well-known advantages of that style: a warmer overall tone with extended low-end response, wicked sustain, and easy upper-fret access (enhanced even further by the ’79s cutaways). The 24-3/4-inch scale neck features a rosewood fingerboard with abalone dot inlays.

    Dean Humbucker Pickups
To capture the biting tones of vintage Deans, the company includes two of its standard humbuckers, in black-and-white “zebra” style for looks as good as the sounds. And what to expect tonally? These pickups should provide more than enough bite for modern styles, along with plenty of low-end and midrange definition. The standard three-way selector allows bridge, neck, or a combination. Each pickup gets a volume pot, and they share the tone control.

    Grover Tuners
If you play guitar then you know what this means—solid, dependable tuning from the industry standard. These guitar machines are a triumph in engineering and style, with a gear ratio of 14:1, perfect gear meshing, and zero backlash and slippage. The gear box has a special lubricant for lifetime, trouble-free service.

    Tune-o-Matic Bridge
The ‘79’s Tune-o-Matic bridge with string-thru body design provides even more sustain, along with precise intonation for your tuning preference. The classic v-shaped plate mirrors the headstock wings for some nice vintage Dean style.

I have 2 of these Dean 79 Z guitars - 1 in black and 1 in white. I got the black one first as a birthday gift from a bunch of friends. I was so happy with the way it looked, felt and played, I purchased another one in white. I did change the pickups in both guitars, but for HUNDREDS of dollars less than a Gibson Explorer, which start at around $1300, I have 2 AWESOME guitars. The black one has Seymour Duncan pickups, and the white one has the Zakk Wylde EMG set. They wound up costing about $800 each, with all of the parts and labor. Not too bad - about $500 less than a stock Explorer.

Since I liked the Z’s so much, I sold my Gibson Les Paul Studio and purchased a Dean Cadillac, which I also fitted with Seymour Duncan pickups. Again, way less money than a Les Paul.

I play in an original hard rock band, and I use these Deans regularly for recording and gigging.

If I were to purchase another guitar, I would go with another Dean, hands down.

Excellent playability and looks trust me I have been playing everything for the last 25+ years. Technology and knowhow has come along ways. I have not seen any ESP’s that don’t live up to their name! This LTD 1000 is very lightweight, fast thin neck, smooth body, fantastic looks and great playability and sounds fab. The xl frets I love but not everyone does. They come with either Seymore Duncans for almost any style of music or active high output EMG’s which are mostly Rock and Metal but you can get other sounds out of them as well. I can also recommend the ESP Ltd 400vf (now 401vf) which is half the price and plays also fantastic! Lastly Cooper’s review is very poor and he is very confused….. You will be pleased with this Instrument I would say it feels like a 1700.00 Guitar!

I’ve already got the Fender single-coil pickup sound covered with a couple Strats and a Tele, as well as various humbuckers and a P-90. I wanted something for recording with a different sound that you don’t hear every day. This is perfect. I play mostly through a ‘76 Fender Twin Reverb and/or ‘73 MusicMan 212, with the bass/treb/mid all at 10. Set that way I get the perfect John Lennon sound, (“I’ve got a Feeling”, “Get Back”, “Don’t Let Me Down”). I know John played a Casino, but I get closer to his sound using the Joe Pass on the bridge pickup, than I do using my Casino. Very cool. ….and the neck pickup is great for fat clean rhythm work. Sheer magic through a chorus pedal. Wow.

  • Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-II Les Paul Collection Electric Guitar, Faded Cherry Sunburst

Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-II Les Paul Collection Electric Guitar, Faded Cherry Sunburst

Improving Perfection: Epiphone’s Les Paul Ultra-II Electric Guitar

Most guitar experts would agree, it’s really, really, really hard to improve on the Les Paul Model. In over 50 years, the master’s design is unbeatable. However, Epiphone took a cool concept for a lighter version, the Ultra II, and played up to it’s surprising acoustic bonus properties by adding a Shadow NanoMag pickup system.

Epiphone embedded the small, powerful, device into the actual end of the fretboard, right at the sweet spot for grabbing rich, acoustic harmonics. We also added the versatility of stereo output, and altogether, yeilding one of the most incredible, award-winning Les Paul models ever. The Epiphone Les Paul Ultra II, with internal chambers making it three pounds lighter than an average LP, still sounds like you’d expect the “King of Solidbodies” to sound with Humbuckers engaged. The comfortable contour on the back is also a plus.

Features of the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra II
The carved mahogany body features a quilted maple top with a set, mahogany neck with Rosewood fingerboard and is voiced by a pair of high-output alnico classic humbuckers, and the Shadow NanoMag system. Add Gold Grover tuners, and the new Epiphone LockTone locking tune-o-matic bridge and Stop-bar tailpiece for even more sustain and unparalleled versatile tone.

Based on the Les Paul Ultra, the Ultra-II adds a NanoMag low-impedance pickup embedded into the fingerboard and custom electronics to create a Les Paul that is not only capable of blistering, electric guitar riffs but also shimmering acoustic-like tones.

The Story Behind the Les Paul Ultra and the Ultra II
Epiphone has a habit of starting revolutions. In 2005, when most people said it couldn’t be done, the worlds favorite luthier said that, yes, it could, and invented the first Les Paul to feature a chambered body, giving smaller guitarists the chance the enjoy killer LP tone and sustain. That model was the Les Paul Ultra.

Now Epiphone is doing it all over again, as the original Les Paul Ultra is joined by its younger brother, the new Ultra-II. You might not be surprised at the name. But when you check out this groundbreaking hybrid model, you won’t believe what Epiphone has done.

The Les Paul Ultra II is Lightweight
Some things haven’t changed. Like the original Ultra, the Ultra-II features a chambered mahogany body topped with a quilted maple cap, meaning that it weights far less than a Les Paul Standard while offering the same timeless tone and endless sustain—but that’s not the reason why the new Ultra-II is set to steal the show.

Unlock Shimmering Acoustic Tones with the LP Ultra II The real revolution comes from the Ultra-II’s pairing of twin Alnico Classic humbuckers (which supply the beefy electric tone that has always been the Les Paul’s calling card) and a fingerboard-mounted Nanomag pickup (with dedicated tone controls and output jack) that lets guitarists unlock shimmering acoustic tones on the stage and in the studio.

Whether you’re playing clean fingerpicked passages or digging in with the pick, this revolutionary hybrid model has it covered.

What They’re Saying About the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra II

“I am extremely happy about the new Ultra-II. I’ve never liked a lot of complex sound choices, especially on stage, but this build is just as versatile without being confusing. There are 5 or 6 sounds I can switch between in the course of one song and it really bridges the gap between acoustic and electric. That is especially great for me as I usually have to choose between one or the other on a song by song basis. This guitar is awesome!”
    Nancy Wilson, Heart

“The NanoMag acoustic pickup, specifically, is a marvel that breathes new life into one ofthe oldest and most cherished electric guitar designs. It integrates so well that I’d like to see it as a standard option on all Les Pauls.”
    Eric Kirkland, Guitar World Magazine

The Les Paul Ultra-II is a different beast. This is the original ultra, i purchased one two Augusts ago with a little maintenance it has defeated many of my other pricey guitars.

The sound is a bit murky like fellow Les Pauls before it, you can assume though a nice hard driven rock sound, and a cutting edge solo tone. The treble and rhythm feature such a strong contrast against each other. The rhythm sounds good enough to be used on clean channel unlike many other Les Pauls. The gold alnico humbuckers and tuning pegs really add to a nicer interpretation along with the stylized burst scattered body.

The guitars strap peg may fall out entirely, easy to fix. With multiple sessions put down on this guitar i find no reason why not to buy it, it endures well and plays as well as it endures! I own eight guitars (some even being the elusive Stevie Ray Vaughan sig Fender, Zakk Wylde Gibson LP, Ibanez RG, Another Epi LP ect), and have played with many guitarists/musicians. They all note how well this guitar performs.

Althought it’s not for sale currently i recommend you search a Guitar Center, you can find one around 500$ or less. This Epi competes well beyond the degrees of fellow higher companioned Gibson.

I’ll be honest. I don’t think this guitar is for everyone. Other than receiving the actual guitar in a mess (de-tuned, very very very low action, ridiculous unplayable buzzing and offset bridge etc, etc….don’t worry… did not buy it from this particular seller XD), After i got it fixed, it played excellent. I can’t judge it too harshly because i’ve been playing a jackson rr-3 for 2 years, and the floyd rose on that particular model of guitar is completely flush with the body, and i know most floyds are not, but rather raised, above the body. Also, the pick-ups are a bit too close together for my liking, and i have a really hard time getting harmonics out of the g-string, but that’s just my experience, and i would say ‘because of that’ but i really don’t know if that’s the cause. And of course it’s about twice the weight of an rr3 so you get a bit sore after a while, but i can’t complain about that. Other than that, it has a nice fast neck, reasonably slim, plays nice, but pick-ups seem a bit over-responsive.

Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar, Heritage Cherry
First let me say I have owned a previous model made by the same manufacturer (Epiphone)this was made some where around 2004 0r 2005,and to clear up the first review that I just read there are two models stay away from the bolt on neck model be sure to ask seller,I’ve never owned a bold on G-1275 but most forums speaking about these say their junk, the Epiphone G1275 custom is the set neck, the first one that I owned was a set neck and the necks started to pull away from the pockets,I purchased it used and had no recourse what so ever so I lost out big time!
The best advice I can give anyone is to buy new from a source that is reputable,or do as I did here on amazon ask the seller (if its an individual) for serial numbers etc,but the warranty would be the most important of all, another bit of advice and this goes for all guitars is to ask the seller to detune the guitar before shipping especially if its winter this may have be the reasoning behind my first mishap with the first G-1275,as it was shipped tuned and it was winter when it was shipped.
Either way this was not the first or an isolated situation I’ve since seen listings (Craigs list,Ebay, etc)where people were selling these which had the same problem neck separating from the body.
I’ve yet to read in any of the up to date forums(that being from 2008)of anyone else having this problem so I’d say Epiphone must have put a fix on it.
Now to the guitar its self, first of all its heavy ,so if your not a writer and all you want to do is play stairway to heaven do yourself a favor get a processor with multi effects most have a twelve string setting allowing any electric guitar to sound like a twelve string electric.
The first thing I saw was a nice finish and a guitar that screamed strap locks :-)both necks were set straight no buzz no lose fret ends, though the actual fret end could have used a good going over with a finishing file,(unless you know what your doing don’t try this on your own)the action was set low just like it should be and the feel was like playing a stick of butter.
I was playing through a solid state Fender amp ten inch speaker built in effects the six string neck sounded much better than I’d expected, but on the other hand the pickups on the twelve seem too tame,I’m not sure just what type or what ohm value they are but I can tell you there is a significant difference but once again just another thing that can be changed if you can work on guitars yourself.
One other thing to remember is the case for this instrument is quite a bit larger than the average so be ready to find some place to store this guitar when you buy it,so thats about it for the negative side of this guitar(keep in mind I’m speaking of the one I no longer have)as I stated I just purchased one here on amazon.
So for the positive features well the price for one,I payed $650.00+$19.49 shipping, sure beats $3099.00 for the Gibson EDS-1275,and even at $999.00(without hard shell case)pails by comparison to the cost of the Gibson, though having played the real deal several times there is quite a bit of difference in the feel.
Also you will see the Epiphone G-1275 has three toggle switches one switch for selecting one or both necks, and one pickup selector switch for each neck,in closing from a point of view of owning one prior to ordering a new one there are a couple things that could be changed and it wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg.
So its a good price for what you get and lets face it,its a double neck guitar, just do your home work before buying there are a lot of counterfeit guitars floating around out there including Epiphones.

Whether you’re looking to blaze through Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” or ride a Rock n’ Roll Train like AC/DC, there is no finer guitar.

While the profile is somewhat thicker than it’s $1000+ dollar big brother Gibson SG, this little fellow packs a punch. The satin finish is very beautiful I must say, though the worn brown finish is somewhat darker than the pictured, but it’s ok. It’s just aesthetics, it’s the sound that counts.

The first time I managed to hammer out “Thunderstruck”, I was amazed at the action of this budget rocker. My hands danced on it’s slender neck and it snarled to life with an overdriven amp. Playing clean, it’s a beauty. It takes some tweaking of the tone and volume controls, but you can get the classic rock sound with a quality amp.

The Bridge Humbucker pickup has a sharper treble edge than the neck, which is good for picking the high strings when your playing some seriously heavy metal. The Neck pickup has a much warmer, chunkier tone reminiscent of older 50’s guitars, but manages to overdrive the amp without overwhelming it. A big plus is that it cleans up so well at high distortion levels, especially when the selector switch is in the middle position (both Neck and Bridge are on). Under the right circumstances, tweaking the volume/tone controls for each pickup, it sounds as though you have two guitars playing at once.

With a solid state (transistor) amp this puppy has some serious bite, great for heavy metal. With an older tube amp, it can move mountains with the stroke of a power chord. Amazing quality for such a low price, I’d highly recommend it for starting out or graduating up from an acoustic guitar. It’s worth every penny. :)

    Rock on.

I have the ESP version (not LTD) but this guitar seems to be almost the same for about a thousand dollars less. I have been playing for 15 years and I have gone through alot of guitars but this is one I will never get rid of. After picking it up and feeling the playability of this instrument I was pretty much sold on it. I had not even plugged it in yet. It has an awesome tone for any style of music and the craftmanship is superb. Weightwise I can carry this around all night with no problems whereas my Les Paul would require a back brace after about 45 minutes. If you have access to play one of these guitars give them a shot. You will most likely give it the same rating as I did.
